Public libraries across the country are joining forces under a the project ,Læsi á stöðu og baráttu kvenna“ with a focus on reading, women’s rights, and the experience of literature. The public library in Blönduós participates with a lecture / photo exhibition on „Women Teachers“ in region. We present a selection of photographs and short biographies of women who played an important role in the community (Húnavatnssýsla districts, Northwest Iceland) related to teaching and literature. We will also highlight teachers who studied abroad, wrote articles on women’s rights and businesswomen who ran their own operations—for example, a bookstore!
