WE ARE MANY – 50th anniversary exhibition of the Women’s History Archives
WE ARE MANY is an exhibition of the Women’s History Archives collection, held to mark the archive’s 50th anniversary. The theme of the exhibition is women’s associations, work and strikes. It will open at the National and University Library on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 3-5 p.m.
The Women’s History Archives in Iceland was founded on January 1, 1975, at the home of the first director, Anna Sigurðardóttir, in her apartment building near Hjarðarhagi. The founding of the archives was the first Icelandic event during the United Nations International Women’s Year, and 2025 has also been designated Women’s Year.
