Reykjavik SlutWalk
If one of us is called a slut, then we are all sluts!♡
On July 26th, we will march for the thirteenth time from Hallgrímskirkja in solidarity with survivors of sexual violence and in opposition to the glorification of rape culture and the victim-blaming that continues to poison our society.
This year’s march is held in honor of Ólöf Tara and all survivors who have lost their lives in this struggle. Ólöf’s contribution to the Slut Walk is invaluable, and we ask for your help in keeping her powerful spirit of resistance alive – while showing her, and all survivors, our deepest respect and love. The fight must go on, and to quote Ólöf: “The time for silence is long gone.”
The Slut Walk is a solidarity march with survivors of sexual violence and has become a deeply rooted part of Reykjavík’s summer. It was first held in 2011, and the goal of the walk is to free survivors from the shame and burden that violence leaves behind and to create a safe space filled with solidarity and love. Survivors of all genders, and anyone who wishes to show their support in action are welcome.
We look forward to seeing you there!
