Demands of Young Women and Non-Binary Persons in the Women’s Year
The Femme Empower group in Iceland in partnership with LAUFE, the Youth Council of the Women’s Rights Association introduces the demands of young women and non-binary persons in the Women‘s Year!
The meeting is being held in connection with the Femme Empower project, which is funded by the European Union and taking place in five European countries: Iceland, Lithuania, Portugal, Poland and Romania.
The demands are based on the findings of a large-scale consultation process where over 900 young people shared their experiences of equality, inequality and discrimination.
The results are now available as collective demands to the European Union and as specific priority demands for each country.
The meeting in Reykjavík takes place following the presentation of the Femme Empower demands to the EU Commission and discussions with its representatives and members of the European Parliament in Brussels.
Now it is time to present Iceland’s priority demands to politicians, NGOs and other key players in gender equality issues here at home.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the first women’s strike, it is especially important to listen to the voices of the younger generation.
We look forward to seeing you and discussing important issues of gender equality and women’s rights.
