Konur í kvikmyndum: Að brjóta niður múra og endurskrifa frásögnina

In 1975, Iceland’s Women’s Day Off made international headlines when 90% of women across the country went on strike, exposing the invisible labor society depended on. Fifty years later, RIFF marks this anniversary with a vital conversation on how questions of equity and representation continue to shape cinema today.

This panel brings together filmmakers, producers, and advocates from Iceland, Europe, and beyond to examine systemic barriers, funding practices, and cultural blind spots — and to highlight the strategies women are using to transform the industry. It’s a chance to celebrate accomplishments, confront ongoing challenges, and reflect on how women continue to lead as storytellers, decision-makers, and changemakers in film.
