ÞÆR, Gerla – Guðrún Erla Geirsdóttir //Solo Exhibition in Glerhúsið
Gerla – Guðrún Erla Geirsdóttir presents around 25 new works created between 2023–2025 at Glerhúsið. The works are inspired by women’s embroidery and handwork from the turn of the century, where personal and political experiences intertwine in textiles, memory and materials.
The exhibition opens fifty years after the Women’s Strike (Women’s Day Off) and recalls the important contribution of women to culture and society. In her works, Gerla intertwines the body, memory and feminist experience. She honors women who worked in the shadows and shows how their legacy continues to shape us today.
On the occasion of the exhibition, the artist is publishing a new artist’s book, which highlights the interplay of craft, memory, and feminist heritage in her work.
Opening on Sunday, October 12 at 2:00 pm. Light refreshments will be served.
Artist talk will take place on Sunday, October 26 at 4:00 pm.
Opening hours: Thursdays and Fridays 3:00–6:00 pm, Saturdays and Sundays 2:00–6:00 pm
