Sóley:

Today 50 years have passed since women in Iceland first went on strike to demand equal pay. It’s incredible how far we’ve come, but we must never lose the fire and power within us. Let’s keep fighting for the world we want.

I want a world where my voice carries the same weight as any man’s.
I don’t want to be treated differently because I’m a woman of foreign origin.
To me, respect for every individual is essential. That is the world I want.

Lotta:

I want a world where equality education is a natural and undisputed part of every school, at every level. That is the world I want.

Nína:

I want a world where the words of women and nonbinary people are not questioned.

Where women’s health is valued equally to men’s and everyone has equal access to healthcare. That is the world I want.

Ísey:

I want a world where trans women are not separated from other women.

Where we are accepted by society and no longer made to feel broken. That is the world I want.

Áróra:

I want a world where gender-based violence is not a reality for most women and nonbinary people around me. I want a justice system that believes survivors instead of failing them, that holds perpetrators accountable. That is the world I want.

Embla:

I want a world where women and nonbinary people don’t have to be submissive or accommodating. A world where boys are taught to share responsibility, so their girlfriends and wives don’t have to become their mothers. That is the world I want.

Júlí:

I want a world where I’m not the only person in a group who has to explain that my pronouns are they/them. A world where it’s not my job to teach others how to respect me. That is the world I want.

Stína:

I want a world where I can share my opinions without being called bossy or rude.
Where I’m seen as just as capable as the boys in my class when they ask for “strong boys to carry heavy tables.” That is the world I want.

Dýrleif:

I want a world where I can go out and have fun without being sexually harassed.

Where I can dance without being grabbed, touched or groped. Where I can dance and be carefree, just like the men. That is the world I want.

Sunna Elvira:

I want a world where disabled women have full access to education, healthcare, and employment—without obstacles. A world where disabled women can live their lives without constantly having to prove their right to exist. That is the world I want.

Áróra: I want a world where I can choose to have a child without my income being reduced.

Júlí: I want a world where I make my own decisions about my body.

Stína: I want a world where I can dress how I want without being judged.

Lotta: I want a world where abortion is a basic right and accessible everywhere.

Embla: I want a world where medical research on women’s health is done on female bodies.

Sóley: I want a world where trans women can use the bathroom without being harassed.

Ísey: I want a world where women can speak on television without being interrupted every other second.

Sunna: I want a world where disabled women get justice. Not silence, excuses, or systematic exclusion.

Dýrleif: I want a world where I can walk home alone at night without fear.

Nína: I want a world where I don’t get unsolicited dick pics.

Júlí: I want a world where women in sports get the same support and funding as men.

Embla: I want a world where queer women are not sexualized.

Lotta: I want a world where women in Palestine can live safely in their country, free from oppression and genocide.

Áróra: I want a world where women in Congo and Sudan don’t have to live with sexual violence, oppression, and genocide.

Sunna: I want a world where women and nonbinary people with ADHD and autism receive earlier diagnoses and support.

Nína: I want a world where all women have the right to education.

Sóley: I want a world where jobs typically done by women are valued equally to those typically done by men.

Stína: I want a world where women and nonbinary people can travel the world without fearing for their safety.

Dýrleif: I want a world where women and nonbinary people live in equality.

All: This is the world I want.

Now, let’s imagine this new world together.
If we can imagine it, we can build it.

Let’s all hold hands and close our eyes if that feels right.
Breathe in. Breathe out.

What kind of world do you want to live in?
What is your role in that world?
What kind of society do we want to create?

This is the world I want.

Now, let’s all say it together “This is the world I want.”

3… 2… 1…

All: This is the world I want!
